    Tagged!

Well, I've received my first tag from Ladybug, which I've seen a few times the past week, so I'll give it a try!

    Ten Things that Represent Me:
    1. A cross necklace, which represents my belief in Jesus as Savior. While I'm not an "in your face" Christian, my faith has been the cornerstone of every aspect of my life- work, marriage, family, ministry- for over 20 years.
    2. My wedding ring, which represents my life as a wife & mother. This has been my career, not the job I hold, however much time it may consume. Marriage & parenting has been the most difficult, but satisfying, task I've undertaken.
    3. A book, representing my love of reading. I always have at least two or three books going at any time. Reading has taken me places & introduced me to people I'll never see in real life. Some of the best times I've spent, from childhood on, has been in bookstores & libraries, looking for a new friend.
    4. A cat toy, which represents all the furry little darlings that have been part of my life. Except for the first six years Chris & I were married (we lived in an apartment that didn't allow pets) I have always had cats in my home. I can't explain the connection I have with felines, but like a garden without flowers, a home without a cat misses something beautiful.
    5. A knitting bag, which represents my love of crafts. All my life, I have always had a need to express myself thru handwork- cross-stitch, knitting, stained glass, photography, water color, etc- both as art & as a way to make use of my time. My grandmother was a ferverent believer in the axiom "Idle hands are the devil's playground"; the only time I saw her just sit, without working on some project, was when she was in prayer & devotions.
    6. An English Brown Betty teapot, which represents not only my love for tea, but the joy I take in sharing it with others. I'm proud of my English/Scots/Irish hertitage, & enjoy learning about the rituals involved in taking tea & sharing the experience with my children, friends & anyone else who would like to know.
    7. A calendar, to represent my involvement in various organizations, formal or casual. In addition to the running around involved in raising a family & working a full-time job (& until this past May, attending college part-time) I serve in music ministry at my church, dance & perform with our Scottish Country Dance club, belong to our local Gardening Club, & attend an informal knitting group at the yarn shop in town.
    8. A CD of Baroque guitar music, to represent the part music plays in my world. I need to listen to beautiful music daily- I think the hardest sense to lose would be hearing, to be isolated in silence all the time. I listen to classical, oldies, jazz, new celtic, scots & irish folk music, country, contemporary Christian, all sorts of music- but not rap or funk, just doesn't appeal.
    9. Rick Steves Europe Through the Backdoor, to represent my dreams to travel. I did a short-term student exchange when I was 16; 2 weeks of touring (London, Rome, a cruise around the Mediterranean) then 3 weeks studying Spanish language & culture in Salamanca, Spain. That experience whetted my appetite to explore Europe in depth- I have a list of trip I want to take & have started saving for the first one- Scotland!
    10. A pair of slipper socks, which represent that my favorite place, Home. They are green, hand-knitted, & fuzzy warm. As soon as I enter the front door, off come the work shoes & on go my socks, which means I'm not going anywhere. While I enjoy my life "out there", I'm most happy when I can putter around my house & yard, reading, cooking, gardening or just listening to music or watching a movie with my husband & children. My home is small, somewhat cluttered, & owned by someone else. But it has been a comfortable haven to me, my family, & any friends who stop by.

I know I am rather late in reading this list, but I saw it in your sidebar and had to take a look.  I'm so glad I know more about you now.  This is one of my favorite lists because it goes deeper in a way.  Maybe I will have to do one myself one of these days.

I love what your wedding ring means to you.  That is so lovely!

planning on adding my ten things to my blog tomorrow...perhaps i am a bit voyeuristic...i love reading things like this and getting a glimpse into other people's lives!  also, your blog on movies was great...my hub and i have the same issue...and i often end up getting sucked into his "guy" movies...and we loathe paying fullprice for something that is just going to end up being full of crap (for lack of a better term!)

Cool list! I've never been tagged (please don't tag me until a future date as my mind is a jello fogged blank right now). It's like all year people never say anything, then at crunch time (generally Dec 1) they all ask "What do you want for Christmas??" *CHOKE*

These were wonderful, and I so agree with number four!  I as well love to cross stitch, I started when I was expecting my first child.  You guessed it, I couldn't finish it completely until I knew when, what time, how big he was.  This was a wonderful list :-)

I've been having trouble navigating MSN spaces lately, some have become easier to get into today, but there are still a few being difficult.  But I made it here!!!!

Have a lovely day tomorrow ~hugs~

Oh my goodness Meg!  I've been trying to leave a comment for a week now - one of the myriad of problems I've been having with my space.  Thankfully, I think they're all fixed now.  Thanks for the visit!  I've absolutely been loving meeting so many fellow sisters - definitely not something I would have thought would happen on MSN, but I'll take it!:)  I loved your writings about Yuki - it so made me laugh when you described his love of taking pictures of everything - it really hit home.  Bless you for hosting him.  I'll be visiting often - I think we speak the same language (reading, Jesus, travel ... )
